Dredge carriage in the Haynes Coastal Engineering Laboratory

 

Henriksen Wins Best Student Paper Award

Mr. John Henriksen, Ocean Engineering graduate student, wins “Best Student Paper Award” at the Western Dredging Association Technical Conference held June 8‐11, 2008 in St Louis, Missouri. John’s paper is entitled “Laboratory Near‐Field Turbidity Data for a Cutter Suction Dredging Operation,” and he received a framed certificate and $300 cash award. John is working toward a PhD in Ocean Engineering and conducted the laboratory work at the Haynes Coastal Engineering Laboratory using the B. G. Hindes Dredge/Tow Carriage (pictured at right). He is the recipient of the 2007‐08 Barrett G. Hindes’ Scholarship and the 2007‐08 William R. Murden Scholarship sponsored by the Western Dredging Association.
