Graduate Admissions

Admission to the Graduate Program in Ocean Engineering is evaluated through the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering. Applications can be done On-line, and detailed instructions are provided on Application Process page of the New Graduate Program Portal.

Applications are accepted at any time, and students can enter the program in the Fall, Spring or Summer semesters. The normal application cycle begins in the late fall, with acceptance decisions following in early spring and summer. For full consideration for funding, the application deadline is January 15. See Funding for more details.

Questions about the application process should be directed to the Ocean Engineering Program graduate advisor, Prof. Kuang-An Chang.

Many students also receive funding as either teaching or research assistants. Every student is automatically considered for teaching assistantships. For research assistantships, students should contact the Ocean Engineering Faculty member they are interested in working with directly. Research assistantships are limited and depend on the current research funding of the faculty. The Zachry Department of Civil Engineering also has a limited number of research fellowships. As a general rule, most Master of Science and Ph.D. students are funded by the end of their first year of graduate school. (For full consideration for funding, the application deadline is January 15. See Funding for more details.)

The Office of Graduate Studies also maintains a detailed web site with information for prospective students, including how to find housing and organize your move to College Station. Please visit their web site for more information.
